The computer situation

Well, I was recently approached a friend (you will note his reply's to my blog under the name Deliveror) wanting a nifty little mod done to his Computer. What he had was an Antec Lanboy case and a Viewsonic 20.1" LCD screen and he wanted the two mounted together (the LCD on the non-windowed side of the cade for LAN parties and such). It sounded like too much fun to resist and i felt it would be pretty easy. SO i took the job and after addressing some potential issues with the idea we were in the fabrication mode. As of today i have all of the Bracketry made, Half of it is already installed and the other half should be by Thursday night (tomorrow). All in all i think it'll turn out very well! I was able to get the Mild Carbon Steel buffed out to very closely match the tone and appearance of the brushed aluminum. With some Meaty looking fastening hardware that looks pretty seriouse, and some very discrete brackets, i was also able to maintain most of the plastic coverings on the swivel mechanism that came with the LCD. The results should be a sexy looking gamng machine that is cool, quiet and completely mobile. Add the internal guts which He has chosen and this'll be one sweet machine. Meanwhile, i am still working on my own Machine. The DVD-rom came in Monday, The K8N Neo Platinum motherboard should (according to fedex tracking) be here today, and My Athlon 64 3400 Newcastle was reordered today and should be here by Friday (thanks to ZipZoomFly.com's free 2nd day air). I have already obtained the 2 512MB sticks of Kingston DDR400 that i'll be running, The case and power supply, the LED fans and rounded cables, the Z-Board and the 19" flatscreen monitor. All i have left to get is the Geforce 6800 Ultra and a good 800dpi optical mouse. I am so far right on schedule with my due date of May 1st to have the components, and May 31st to have everything running at top performance and ready for a Quakefest. I think we need to have The Codeweaver post a notice on www.Digitalloom.org for the fest, since Dave and I should both be suited to play by then. I just can't wait to see how this'll perform once it's all together and running smooth!! according to all of the research i have done, it should be a very nice system. Not the newest, not the most competitive, but still proven and stable and reliable and very capable.
