Like, Whoa?

Well I feel it’s been sufficiently long enough since my last post. I’M DONE!!! Finals are complete and I have passed all of my classes! Now I can move on to happier things. Last night the Boginator and I started our educational suicide, aka Special Relativity, and it was neat. We were able to make sense of everything we studied and draw some nifty diagrams about how different observers view the passage of time. Anyway I won’t get into that unless peoples really want me to. I received my results back on the Limited Entry hunts and it looks like I have, yet again, failed to draw a Bull Elk tag (*spirited fist shake*). This puts me at 10 Bonus points. For those of you not familiar with the Utah draw system I’ll tell you a bit about it. When you put in for a hunt and don’t draw you get what is called a bonus point. For each bonus point you have, your name is entered in the drawing another time. This is somehow supposed to increase your chances of drawing though if everyone gets another bonus point too they’ll all be increasing by the same amount and thus no increase in probability will be observed with the exception of those that actually DO draw a tag (in which case all bonus points are erased and you wait 5 years then start over from 0). I have been putting in every year since I was 14 and have never drawn. I am now 24, and have accumulated 10 bonus points. They do, however, place a limit on the number of bonus points you can have. If I do not draw next year I will have reached this limit. My dad has likewise never drawn a permit and has been at the maximum limit for 6 years now. I also know a number of other individuals who have continued to put in for the drawing and have repeatedly been denied. I have officially lost all faith in the Utah draw system (despite having acquired a Turkey tag) and will begin looking to other states for reasonable odds in spite of the increased cost associated with non-resident hunting tags. In short, “Utah Division of Wildlife Resources can go to hell!” Meanwhile, the Nikkinator and I will be in Cancun in two weeks (*yay!*). I’ve not been focusing on our upcoming trip because of school, but now that’s over I can get all excited and realize that I only have two weeks to fit into my bathing suit! Anyway that’s about all that’s gone on recently, besides me being a freak before my finals due to the amount of caffeine pulsing through my veins. Anywho, toodley pipski!

So what have we learned today children?

So the end of the semester draws near, which means finals are coming up. The only good thing about finals is that they end, and when they do it is party time! For those of you who are interested (which is probably none of you) I have plans for this summer. Almost enough plans that I could call the summer already “booked” and over with. After finals (after next week) I get to try to kill a turkey for a few days. Then the Nikkinator and I leave for Cancun for 2 weeks. When we get back I have about 10 more days to try to kill a turkey before the hunt ends. Bog and I will be starting to study General Relativity together because we’re apparently not geeky enough already. Also, I’ll be taking two normal summer classes (Writing for Scientists and Engineers online and Ethics and values on campus) which will surely prove to be utterly boring and will force me into conversation with people i have no desire to conversationalizeinger with. Also, this summer I plan to do a bunch of work on my rock crawler and have it to a testable point by fall. Top that off with the usual summer time activities like camping and such, and you’ve got one packed summer vacation. And now for something completely different. Since everyone is getting out of school and will need some way to drain all the brainy goo from their heads, I suggest a LAN party/Barbeque. I don’t know when or where, but I think it sounds like a good way to celebrate another semester gone by. Speak up if’n ya’ll want to set up something like that. Anyway, just wanted to say hi, so feel greeted you!!!

The most Loneliest day of my liiiiiiiiiiiiiiife.....

So I’ve been working on this great surprise that many of you have heard so much about. Now the time has come to reveal it in all its marvel and glory. I’m sure you’re all familiar with my truck. You know, big, noisy and all those different colors. Well I had wanted to paint it over the winter break but decided that blowing up our house was a bad idea. The Nikkinator and I decided to wait until this summer to do it. That Idea has now been foiled. It will, unfortunately, no longer be necessary to paint my truck. Something terrible has happened and it can’t be undone. I have provided a picture below for those of you who’d like one last view of how my beautiful truck used to look before it happened. Just below that is the horrific result of what happens when someone has a free weekend and has a little too much fun. Fortunately, no one was seriously injured.

That’s right Chillins, it’s DONE! We called Maaco 2 weeks ago on a Monday to get an Idea what they would charge to spray the final coat and see if in fact I wanted to do it myself to save $$. It was at this point that I learned about their half off sale which was running until the end of the month of March. This made it almost as cheap as it would be if I were to do it all by myself. For us to get the deal we’d have to get the truck into them by Saturday the 31st. I had 5 days to get my entire truck from the state it was in to be ready for paint. Between school, work and that project I had zero time for anything else. I even took a day off to help propel my work forward. Friday night (aka Saturday morning) we finished at about 1:30 and then collapsed. We dropped the truck off at around Noon and then I waited on pins and needles for an entire week. I picked it back up just this past Saturday and had her back together and looking sexy by the end of the day. Just a few things are needed to complete the restoration (most of which are interior) and they will come in time. I would probably like to get some new tail lights since mine are all smashed and such. To be completely fair I didn’t even tell my family about this project until yesterday when we drove up in my “new” ride, so no one should feel offended that they weren’t “in the loop” (or at least you should all be equally offended). Anyway, that’s what we’ve been up to lately. Sorry for the length between the posts, besides work being a little busier than normal, I’ve had this going on. I’ll be good from now on. Later!
